Iyabo Ojo Fires Back at Verydarkman Over Mohbad Allegations

Iyabo Ojo

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has responded fiercely to social media activist Verydarkman, who accused her of backing out of an agreement to publicly apologise to singers Naira Marley and Sam Larry over her earlier claims linking them to the death of late singer Mohbad.

According to Verydarkman, the agreement was reached during a roundtable discussion at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC), attended by Iyabo Ojo, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Tonto Dikeh, and their legal teams. He alleged that Iyabo had promised to issue a public apology but failed to follow through.

In a fiery response shared via a live video, Iyabo dismissed the claims as manipulative and dishonest, calling Verydarkman “cunning” and “deceitful.”

“Verydarkman, I saw your video, and I know why you made those videos. I’m sure the NCCC has called to tell you that I’ve petitioned them, so you had to come out and do your normal manipulative tactics,” she said.

Iyabo defended her actions, stating that her initial accusations were based on disturbing videos and online reports that surfaced after Mohbad’s death in 2023. She cited footage of Sam Larry allegedly harassing Mohbad and Zlatan Ibile, and a clip of Naira Marley dancing shortly after Mohbad’s passing, which she said triggered her emotional reaction.

“I saw Sam Larry’s video where he harassed Zlatan Ibile and Mohbad. That was when I believed the bullying allegations. As a concerned citizen and mother, I used my platforms,” she explained.

Iyabo also clarified that she had never met Naira Marley before and had only promoted his music in the past. She added that she was invited by the NCCC while en route to Tanzania for her daughter Priscilla’s wedding, and responded to the summons accordingly.

“I am a very wise woman. I know when to fight, when to listen, and when to speak—unlike you who speak from both sides of the mouth,” she said.

The exchange has reignited public debate over the handling of Mohbad’s case and the role of celebrity activism in shaping public narratives.
