Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has defended his selection of players for the 2024 African Nations Championship.
Chelle has included nine players from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL champions Remo Stars, in his final 24-man squad for the tournament.
The Malian coach has faced significant criticism for this decision, particularly since one of his assistants, Daniel Ogunmodede, is currently the head coach of Remo Stars.
Nevertheless, Chelle stated that he chose players who align with his style of play.
”My only consideration is that I have a philosophy. I aim to maintain possession, and when we lose the ball, I want us to apply high pressure. Therefore, I need to select players who can adapt to my philosophy,” the former head coach of the Eagles of Mali conveyed to the Super Eagles media.
