Bayelsa State Government has commenced the clamping down of defaulting commercial mini bus operators following the expiration of the six-week deadline given to paint vehicles with the State colors.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Ayebaekiepreye Brodrick the commercial mini bus operators were required to obtain and display Ministry of Transport registration numbers on their vehicles before thursday 31st July, 2025.
According to the statement “it has become an offence for mini bus who are yet to comply with the regulatory directive are advised to stay off the road until full compliance in their own interest.”

“Defaulting mini-bus risk been impounded and imposition of heavy penalties including a fine of one hundred-thousand Naira only. Enforcement will commence without further warning.”
Recall that the Bayelsa State Ministry of Transport had earlier issued a directive to operators of Mini-buses in the State to paint their vehicles and obtain numbers that could distinguish them from private users and aid security operatives effectively discharge their duties in safeguarding lives of commuters and prevent criminal enterprises.
