The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are deepening their collaboration to promote national reorientation and voter education. The NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, led an advocacy visit to INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu to discuss ways to strengthen their partnership.
Issa-Onilu praised INEC’s efforts in managing Nigeria’s electoral process and highlighted NOA’s renewed drive under his leadership. He emphasised the importance of cultivating patriotism through emotional and psychological bonds and called for deeper collaboration with INEC to engage citizens in electoral processes.
The NOA boss proposed enhanced voter education campaigns targeting young people through initiatives like CLHEEAN and the entertainment-focused NOA Halkathon. He also pointed out the lack of a dedicated democracy education budget for NOA and argued that the agency’s reach makes it best suited to lead public voter education.
