Blaqbonez Predicts Collapse Of Nigerian Music Industry

Nigerian rapper and music executive Blaqbonez has voiced serious concerns about the growing issue of stream farming and its detrimental impact on the country’s music industry. According to the artist, the manipulation of streaming numbers by some musicians has caused harm that cannot be undone.

Blaqbonez’s comments come in response to fellow artist Magixx, who recently called out musicians who artificially inflate their streams using bots or automated systems. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Magixx expressed frustration, writing, “Y’all faking your numbers I hope you sleep well at night… keep deceiving your family members.”

Echoing Magixx’s sentiments, Blaqbonez shared his own stark warning about the long-term consequences of such practices. He reposted Magixx’s tweet with an additional commentary, stating, “The irreversible damage we done to our industry, one day it’d finally come crumbling down, for now let’s keep acting like the charts mean anything more than a showcase of the people who can afford to buy it, its like iTunes in the 2000s all over again.”

Blaqbonez drew a parallel to the early 2000s, when iTunes rankings were often manipulated through bulk purchases, undermining the credibility of music success metrics.
