Port Harcourt-based content creator and philanthropist, Belema Nelson, has announced a charitable initiative aimed at supporting students with respiratory health needs.
Nelson would be given away 15 inhalers to students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) on Tuesday at 12 noon. The distribution will take place at the Students’ Union Government (SUG) office on campus, with the inhalers reserved for the first 15 individuals who arrive.
Inhalers are essential medical devices for managing respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and allergies. However, due to financial constraints, many students struggle to afford them. Nelson’s initiative seeks to provide immediate relief to those in need while raising awareness about respiratory health challenges among young people.
Nelson also encouraged students who know friends, roommates, or course mates in need of an inhaler to spread the word so they can benefit from the opportunity.

Recognizing that respiratory health issues affect students across institutions, Nelson has extended the initiative to the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). Another 15 inhalers will be distributed on Wednesday at 12 noon at a location to be announced. This expansion ensures that more students in the Port Harcourt academic community can access the support they need.
This will help promote affordable healthcare access because many students cannot easily afford medical supplies, making such giveaways crucial.
The initiative highlights the importance of respiratory health, especially in regions with pollution or seasonal allergies. By leveraging his platform, Nelson is setting an example for other influencers to engage in community-driven projects.
Students at both institutions have expressed appreciation for the gesture, with many hoping for more health-focused initiatives in the future.
