UBEC to Reintegrate 10 Million Out-of-School Children

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) is embarking on a mission to transform the country’s education landscape. With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the commission aims to bring 10 million out-of-school children back into the education system over the next three years.

UBEC’s Executive Secretary, Hajiya Aisha Garba, outlines a clear roadmap for achieving this ambitious goal. By working closely with stakeholders, including State Universal Education Boards (SUBEB) and national and state-level governments, the commission aims to reduce the number of out-of-school children by 70% between 2025 and 2028.

To support this initiative, UBEC has been investing heavily in education infrastructure. The commission has constructed thousands of classrooms, established model schools, and provided furniture for students. These efforts have already had a positive impact on hundreds of thousands of learners across the country.

  1. This children are out school because of poverty. Until the root causes are addressed, no meaningful progress can be made in that regard.
