Afrinvest Launches N2.5 Billion Halal Investment Fund

Afrinvest Asset Management Limited has introduced a new N2.5 billion Sharia-compliant investment fund, approved by Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Afrinvest Halal Fund offers 25 million units at N100 per unit, providing ethical investment opportunities for Nigeria’s growing Islamic finance market.

The fund will focus on Sharia-compliant fixed-income securities, including sovereign and corporate Sukuk (Islamic bonds), along with approved leasing and trading contracts. This structure adheres strictly to Islamic financial principles that prohibit interest payments and investments in restricted sectors like alcohol or gambling.

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima recently emphasized the government’s commitment to developing the country’s Halal economy, valued at $107 billion in 2022, with projections reaching $180 billion by 2027. The Afrinvest Halal Fund represents a strategic move to capture this growing market segment.

“With Nigeria’s large Muslim population and increasing demand for ethical investments, this fund addresses a significant gap in our financial markets,” said an Afrinvest spokesperson during the launch event in Lagos. The company confirmed the fund has undergone rigorous screening processes to ensure full compliance with Islamic finance principles.

Afrinvest Asset Management, a subsidiary of Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited, positions this offering as part of its broader strategy to provide diverse investment solutions. The fund provides professional asset management while maintaining strict ethical guidelines, appealing to both Muslim investors and others seeking socially responsible investment options.

The fund is now available to investors through Afrinvest’s distribution channels, with the company projecting strong interest from both institutional and retail investors seeking Sharia-compliant portfolio diversification.
