‘It’s 10th WAFCON crown or nothing’ – Super Falcons Arrived Rabat for final

Coach Justine Madugu emphasizes that Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reached the 10th WAFCON with a singular goal: to reclaim the trophy they have secured nine times in the past 12 championships.

The Super Falcons, one of just seven teams to participate in every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since its inception in 1991, overcame the formidable Banyana Banyana of South Africa in Tuesday’s second semifinal, thanks to a stunning cross-cum-floater goal by defender Michelle Alozie during added time.

“We are grateful to God for reaching the final. I assure you that we will not waver or lose focus. Our aim is to lift the trophy in Rabat on Saturday,” Madugu stated as the nine-time champions prepared to depart from Morocco’s industrial and economic hub, Casablanca, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Super Falcons have now arrived in Rabat in anticipation of their final match against the host team, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Justine Madugu’s team will conduct their first training session in Rabat at the FUS Academie later this evening.

The initial 15 minutes of this training will be accessible to the media. The nine-time champions will then engage in a closed-door session at the same location on Friday.

Nigeria is set to compete against Morocco in the WAFCON 2024 final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Friday, following their 2-1 victory over Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the semifinal on Tuesday
