“We will end their record” – Super Falcons Coach to South Africa Ahead of Clash

Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu expresses confidence in his team’s capability to overcome the defending champions, South Africa, in their upcoming WAFCON semi-final match, despite the formidable reputation of Bayana Bayana in the tournament.

Desiree Elis’s squad triumphed in the previous edition of the tournament and has remained unbeaten in regular time at the WAFCON since 2018. Nevertheless, Madugu is convinced that his team is adequately prepared to advance to the final.

Although their lackluster performance during the group stages raised concerns about Nigeria’s prospects of securing their 10th Cup of Nations title, their impressive 5-0 victory over Zambia in the quarter-finals has bolstered confidence.

Madugu stated that his team is thoroughly prepared and conveyed his belief that they can put an end to South Africa’s remarkable 14-game streak of avoiding defeat in regular time at the WAFCON.

“The preparations are going well; the girls have shown great commitment and determination; they are in excellent condition; they are well prepared,” Madugu informed reporters.

“Yes, South Africa has not experienced a loss in regulation time since 2018. However, records are meant to be broken. Regardless of how long it takes, one day that record will be shattered. We are hopeful that by Tuesday, with God’s grace, that record will no longer stand.”
