WAEC Denies Cancellation of 2025 WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has dismissed a viral report claiming the cancellation of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The Council described the information as false and misleading.

In a statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, WAEC categorically denied issuing a notice of cancellation.

The Council assured the public that the examination is proceeding as planned and that marking of scripts has been concluded.

WAEC assured candidates that results would be released on or before Thursday, August 4, 2025. The Council emphasized that official announcements are made through verified channels, including social media platforms, accredited media outlets, and the Public Affairs Department.

WAEC attributed the false report to “mischief-makers” seeking to cause confusion and panic among candidates. The Council urged the public to disregard the fake news and rely on official sources for information.
