Obidients Celebrate Peter Obi’s 64th Birthday with Community Service in Rivers State

Peter Obi

Supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, known as “Obidients,” launched a series of community service events in Rivers State to mark his upcoming 64th birthday on July 19, 2025.

The five-day celebration, dubbed “5 Days of Service,” includes free medical check-ups, a “Pad A Rivers Girl” initiative, and a “Feed The Poor” program, reflecting a commitment to social welfare and grassroots engagement.

A video shared by @PO_GrassRootM on X captures a specific free medical outreach in Elekahia Town, Port Harcourt, organized as part of these birthday celebrations. The footage, timestamped on July 16, 2025, shows volunteers under tents providing medical services to community members.

Subtitles in the video identify the event as organized by Hon. Ibu Manochim Emezuike, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, in partnership with the Obidient Movement. Images depict elderly individuals receiving care, volunteers distributing supplies, and a large banner promoting the medical outreach, scheduled for July 2025, reinforcing the event’s scale and organization.

This outreach is part of a broader trend of Obidient activities, as evidenced by a 2022 event in Port Harcourt where over 200,000 supporters gathered, indicating a sustained pattern of large-scale community engagement.

The medical initiative aligns with Obi’s public persona of service and humility, recently highlighted by his participation in the Jubilee of Hope in Imo State, where he served food to attendees, emphasizing leadership through action rather than spectacle.

The timing of these events, just days before Obi’s birthday, underscores the strategic use of his birthday to mobilize supporters and demonstrate tangible community impact.

Political analysts note that such service-oriented celebrations distinguish the Obidient movement, potentially influencing public perception and political dynamics in Nigeria ahead of future elections. As the birthday approaches, these efforts reinforce the movement’s grassroots appeal and commitment to actionable social welfare.
