Transfer: Nicolas Jackson to Move to Manchester United

Manchester United is reportedly considering a surprising acquisition of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as they persist in their pursuit of a new center forward.

The club has experienced a relatively subdued summer regarding transfers; however, this does not imply that negotiations are not taking place behind the scenes. Matheus Cunha has already been announced as a new addition to the Reds, with the organization optimistic about finalizing additional transactions before the September 1 deadline.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo remains United’s primary target, having already had two offers turned down for the Cameroon international. Concurrently, a striker is also included on United’s transfer market shortlist this summer.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has reported that United is expressing interest in acquiring Jackson from Chelsea this summer. The Reds are noted as one of several Premier League clubs contemplating a move for the Senegal international, which reportedly also involves Aston Villa.

A different report from The Athletic on Tuesday suggested that Liverpool could emerge as a potential destination for Jackson should he depart Chelsea this summer, with sporting director Richard Hughes having monitored Jackson during his tenure at Bournemouth.

Last season, the striker netted 13 goals in 37 appearances for the London club, having transferred to the capital from Villarreal in 2023 for an estimated fee of £30 million.

As the summer transfer window progresses, Jackson’s future at Stamford Bridge has become increasingly precarious. Chelsea has bolstered their attacking options with the acquisitions of Joao Pedro and United target Liam Delap, in addition to the signing of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
