Rivers United Celebrates Successful Season, Rededicates Club Ahead of New Season

In a grand display of gratitude and faith, the Management, Technical Crew, Players, and Staff of Rivers United FC gathered at the Salvation Ministries, Home of Success, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, for a thanksgiving service. The service was held to express appreciation to God for the club’s successful 2024/2025 football season and to rededicate the team ahead of the upcoming 2025/2026 season.

The thanksgiving service, which took place at Plot 17, Birabi Street, GRA, Phase 1, Port Harcourt, was a vibrant celebration of faith and gratitude. The entire Rivers United football club, led by General Manager Chief Dr. Okey Kpalukwu and Technical Manager Finidi George, joined in praise and dancing, thanking God for His mercies and blessings throughout the season. The players, led by Temple Emekayi, were equally jubilant, praising God for the team’s achievements.

During the service, prayers were offered for God’s continued guidance and support in the new season. Pastor Mrs. Peace Ibiyeomie, wife of Pastor David Ibiyeomie, led the congregation in prayer, asking that God would lift the team higher than the previous season. Her prayers were filled with faith and conviction, reflecting the team’s determination to excel in the upcoming season.

With the thanksgiving service now concluded, Rivers United FC is gearing up for their upcoming fixtures. The team will travel to Lagos State to participate in the Eko International preseason cup, where they will face Shooting Stars on Wednesday, July 16, at 3 pm.

As the team embarks on this new challenge, they are filled with hope and determination, knowing that God’s blessings and guidance will continue to be their strength. The Management and Players of Rivers United FC are grateful for the support of their supporters and look forward to making them proud in the upcoming season.
