Opobo LGA Administrator Gifts Seed Money to Support Women Traders in Opobo/ Nkoro

The Administrator of Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Area, Rivers State, Senibo Frederick Apiafi, has given seed money of 30,000 each to about 1000 women (traders) to support their small-scale businesses in the area.

Senibo Apiafi said that though the amount of the seed money may be too small, considering the present economic realities in Nigeria, he believed that women, like good mothers, have the capability of making it yield bountifully.

The Opobo Nkoro Administrator made the remarks in Opobo Town, during the flag-off of the empowerment programme for the women in fulfilment of his earlier promise made, as he encouraged them to make judicious use of the money in supporting their different businesses.

Also, speaking at the event, the Chief of Staff to the Administrator, Senibo Dr. Donald Brown, said only 50 of the 1000 women already shortlisted for the seed money received their money in cash, while others will receive it through bank transfer.

The women leaders and some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Senibo Apiafi for not deceiving the women with empty promises by calling the women together to give them seed money.

In his vote of thanks, the Head of Local Government Administration in the area, Christian Oye, thanked the administrator for remembering to touch the lives of the women traders in Opobo/Nkoro and urged the women to use the money judiciously.
