Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi has expressed confidence that the English Premier League team will triumph over the current European champions, Paris Saint-Germain, and secure the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Blues advanced to the finals by defeating the Brazilian team Fluminense, while PSG achieved a resounding 4-0 victory against the record European champions Real Madrid, setting the stage for the final match on Sunday, July 13.
Mikel, who dedicated eleven seasons to Chelsea, believes that the Blues possess a strong squad capable of overcoming the Red and Blue at the MetLife Stadium.
“We [Chelsea] are in the finals and naturally, we aim to win. We have already secured the Conference League, qualified for the Champions League, and it would be remarkable if we were to win the FIFA Club World Cup,” stated Mikel Obi.
“This would indeed represent a treble-winning trophy for us. We must win it; we are in the finals, and we have a solid team.
“Both teams are playing excellent football, and I believe the outcome will depend on how the match unfolds. Ultimately, individual brilliance will likely decide the game.
We have players capable of creating opportunities and scoring, as demonstrated by João Pedro, who netted two goals in his debut. However, PSG’s attacking strength will make this an exciting match for everyone to witness.”
