Rivers Women Prays Against Insurgency in Prone States

The Rivers Women Prayer Group, operating under the platform Rivers Women Unite for SIM, has intensified its weekly intercessory prayers, seeking divine intervention for sustained peace in Rivers State and across insurgency-affected regions of Nigeria.

Gathering at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt on Thursday, July 10, 2025, the women lifted fervent prayers for national security, focusing particularly on troubled states such as Benue, Borno, Plateau, Nasarawa, Yobe, and Zamfara.

The group emphasised that insecurity in any part of Nigeria threatens the peace, unity, and development of the entire nation, and urged citizens to remain steadfast in prayer and collaboration for a safer, more united Nigeria.

In a show of gratitude and support, the women commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her proactive and compassionate response to the crisis in these regions, especially through the donation of relief materials to displaced persons. They described her actions as a “noble display of motherly leadership.”

Turning to developments in Rivers State, the group celebrated the recent signs of political stability and called for the immediate reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whom they regard as a symbol of legitimate democratic governance. They prayed for his continued wisdom and strength to lead the State toward lasting peace and development.

The prayer session was also marked by thanksgiving for the renewed spirit of unity among political actors in Rivers State, with many members offering testimonies of divine intervention in both public affairs and their personal lives.

“We believe it is the power of corporate prayer that has brought us this far. God has been faithful to us and to Rivers State. We are confident he will perfect what He has started,” said Comrade Glory Sunday, Media Officer of RWUS.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to sustained spiritual intercession, declaring that its mission to stand in the gap for Rivers State and the nation remains inspired by divine calling.
