Barcelona Battles Athletico Madrid to secure Ademola Lookman signature

Barcelona is pursuing a new left-winger following their unsuccessful attempt to acquire Nico Williams. With Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford being considered, the Super Eagles’ sensational Ademola Lookman has surfaced as a cost-effective option; however, complications regarding FC Barcelona’s ter Stegen may hinder the transaction.

Barcelona is diligently seeking to secure a new left-winger, yet their attempts thus far have not been fruitful. Nico Williams was on the verge of moving to Camp Nou, but suddenly extended his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

Efforts to recruit Luis Diaz as a contingent are also not progressing as anticipated. Although discussions with Manchester United player Rashford have advanced today, the Catalan club is cautious about depending on a single option after the situation with Williams, prompting them to investigate other possibilities.

The rejection from Williams has compelled Barcelona to reassess its targets. Their top choice remains Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, although Bayern Munich is now perceived as the leading contender for the Colombian.

In addition to Diaz and Rashford, another player under consideration, as per a recent report, is Ademola Lookman. The Super Eagles sensation is anticipated to depart from Atalanta this summer, with Atletico Madrid also reportedly interested.

A potential deal for Lookman could be more financially viable for Barça. The Spanish publication Sport indicates that Atalanta would entertain offers below €50m (£43.2m).

Nevertheless, the report also implies that reaching a personal agreement with the 27-year-old may be challenging due to strained relations between Barcelona and the player’s agents, who also represent Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
