According to a recent report, it has been confirmed that Zesco United, the prominent team in the Zambia Premier League, has finalized the signing of Nigerian forward Chijioke Alakwe in preparation for the 2025/26 season.
The report indicates that the 27-year-old played for Akwa United during the previous Nigeria Premier Football League season. Although the club faced relegation, Alakwe distinguished himself with commendable individual performances.
Zesco United, recognized as one of the top clubs in the Zambia Premier League, officially announced the arrival of the Nigerian international striker on Wednesday afternoon, revealing that he joins the Lusaka-based team on a free transfer.
The swift move of the player is attributed to the team’s anticipation of Alakwe, who has just joined the club, linking up with the first team for preseason training.
