Rivers State AGN supports relocation of guild’s headquarters

The chairman Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Rivers State Chapter, Dr. Ken Osunwa has defended the relocation of the AGN headquarters to Abuja describing it as a move to reposition the guild for optimum performance.

Dr. Osunwa who made this known in an exclusive interview with The Port City News stated that the movement of the AGN headquarters to the nation’s capital will go a long way to re-strategize the guild by uniting all the regional chapters into a single guild for convenience, accessibility, and equitable development of the actors association.

Dr Osunwa stated the benefits of the relocation to include support from the government, funding, and sponsorship from business organisations.

“You can see that the government would pay attention to us there is going to be bills to be sponsored. We are at the door post of every decision making in this country. So with this move our presence will be felt by the government and business men.
Even in our move the American embassy and government agencies sent representatives and of course some of the members of our board live in Abuja”, he noted.

Dr. Osunwa stressed that Nollywood is a force to reckon with in the development of the nation underscoring the contributions of the industry to the economy.

“The AGN had been a strong force or one of the formidable guild’s in Nollywood.
But with our presence now, you can see that Nollywood is having a face, Nollywood us being recognized. It is the hub of entertainment in Nigeria. It is one of cash cows of the nation because the revenue that is being gotten practices is awesome and huge.


I wish to let you know that Nollywood is the face of this country and it is the export Nigeria can boost of apart from oil”, he explained.The chairman of Rivers State AGN added that the advantages of the initiative outweighs its pitfalls.
