Relief International Africa Applauds FCT Minister’s Call for Release of NDDC Forensic Audit Report

Relief International Africa has hailed the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, for his bold and timely call on the Presidency to release the long-awaited forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Reacting to the call, the organization’s Executive Director, Green Isaac, described the Minister’s intervention as aligning with the persistent demands of civil society organizations, community leaders, and concerned citizens across the Niger Delta, who have long decried the mismanagement and underdevelopment of the region despite trillions of naira allocated to the NDDC.

“We strongly believe that the release of the forensic audit report will be a major step towards checkmating the corruption and impunity that have plagued the NDDC for years. Those entrusted with public funds must be held accountable,” Isaac stated.

Relief International Africa warned that continued suppression or delay of the audit findings would undermine public trust and send a dangerous signal that corruption is protected or even rewarded in Nigeria.

“Our fear remains that if the findings of this audit are ignored, it will send the wrong message that corruption thrives unpunished. Nigeria cannot afford this, especially when public confidence in governance is at an all-time low.”

The organisation urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act on the Minister’s patriotic appeal by releasing the audit report without further delay. It also called on anti-corruption agencies to take swift and decisive action based on the audit’s findings.

“The future of the Niger Delta and the integrity of our national institutions depend on courageous leadership, transparency, and the collective will to do what is right.”
