Kayode Adegbulugbe Honoured as NOG 2025 Rising Star

Dr. Kayode Adegbulugbe, Chief Operating Officer of Green Energy International Limited (GEIL), has been named the Rising Star of the Year at the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week Conference and Exhibition, held in Abuja.

The prestigious recognition was presented during the 24th edition of the annual industry gathering, which ran from June 29 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre. With the theme “Accelerating Global Energy Progress Through Investment, Partnerships & Innovation,” this year’s event brought together global energy leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators, and key industry stakeholders to chart new paths for sustainable energy advancement.

Receiving the award, Dr. Adegbulugbe expressed deep appreciation to the organizers and the award committee, describing the honour as both humbling and inspiring.

“To be honored in the presence of such distinguished professionals, thought leaders, and innovators in the energy space is truly humbling for me, and I don’t take this for granted,” he said.

Reflecting on the journey that led to the recognition, he added:
“This award is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the support, professionalism, collaboration, and hard work of many individuals and teams I’ve had the privilege to work with. I would like to sincerely thank my colleagues, mentors, and partners who have challenged and inspired me throughout this journey. Their commitment to excellence and innovation has been a continuous source of motivation.”

The Rising Star award was one of several honors presented during the conference, which also featured categories such as the Energy Excellence Award, Equality in Energy Award, Woman in Leadership Award, Operational Excellence Award, Sustainability in Energy Award, and Indigenous Company of the Year Award, for which GEIL was nominated.

Last year, Green Energy International Limited clinched the titles of Best Indigenous Oil and Gas Company of the Year and Best Exhibition Stand Design at the same event.

GEIL continues to strengthen its reputation in the industry. The company recently completed the construction of an onshore crude oil terminal, the first built by an indigenous operator in Nigeria in over 50 years. The facility achieved a major milestone with its first crude oil export on June 8, 2025.
