Reconciliation Committee’ to Mediate Between the Pro-Wike and Pro-Fubara’s Factions Advocated

His Royal Majesty, Alabo(Dr) Reuben Mietamuno Saturday Jaja (Addah Soide Jaja II), Head, Chief(Prince) Saturday Jaja House, Opobo Kingdom, Rivers State.

A Royal father and Head Chief Prince, Saturday Jaja House, in King Jaja Group of Houses, Opobo Kingdom, Alabo Reuben Saturday-Jaja, has suggested the need for a constituted Truth and Reconciliation Committee that will mediate between the Pro-Wike and pro-Fubara’s factions to restore the eluded peace and tranquillity for proactive development of Rivers State and its people.

Alabo Reuben Jaja, who made the call in an interview with Radio Nigeria, commended the untiring efforts of President Bola Tinubu for initiating the reconciliation move between the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the members of Rivers State House of Assembly, describing it a step in the right direction.

The Royal father said with the truce in place, any move of impeachment of Sir Fubara by the Assembly members after he has been reinstated as the Governor would stand as betrayal of democratic spirit, fuel deeper mistrust and violent retaliation while urging them to shelve their personal woes and work together for the good of Rivers people.

“There is the urgent need to launch a ‘Rivers Unity Agenda’ with representation from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, and loyal stools. Enforce legislative discipline within the State Assembly to avoid external manipulation. I call on political leaders in Rivers State to shelve their personal vendettas, and join hands with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his team to build a progressive and formidable united state of the founding fathers’ dreams for posterity”. He said.

Dr. Reube-jaja urged the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly to work towards strengthening the constitutional backing for the Assembly’s independence, by way of offering capacity-building for members on checks and balances, and not for personal vendetta.

Alabo Reuben Jaja noted that elder statesmen and traditional rulers should play advisory roles in the smooth running of governance in Rivers State and also act as bridge-builders between citizens and the government, not as bystanders.
