Rivers Police Nabs Two Suspects Over Alleged Attack On CDC Chair

The Community Development Committee CDC, Chairman of Okana in Abua Central Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Benjamin Christian Ediegene, has narrated his ordeal of how some youths ambushed and almost killed him on his way to his farm.

Ediegene revealed this incident in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

He narrated that “on Sunday, at about 7am that 29th of June, I was going to my farm, group of boys ambushed me, some machete me on the head, shoulder and on the hand.

“After they left, I had to force myself to the main road, my community people came and took me to the police station.”

The victim added that “all I am demanding for is justice. They said they arrested two of them, I believe that they will also apprehend others, I am demanding for justice.

“After they attacked me I was unconscious but now, at least I can talk a little.”

Ediegene further said that he was in shock as he had no idea why he was attacked by the youth.

He stated this following the arrest of two suspects believed to have been involved in his attack.

The arrest of the two suspects on Tuesday, whose identity was still unrevealed, was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-koko, who also confirmed the incident.

Irinke-Koko noted that the Police Division in Ayama, Abua Central arrested the suspects.

She added that the suspects have been transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department SCIID, Port Harcourt, for further investigation.
