Super Falcons Ready for Success in Morocco, Says Madugu

After the Super Falcons achieved a remarkable 3-1 win against Ghana’s Black Queens in Casablanca on Sunday evening, Head Coach Justine Madugu highlighted the players’ strong desire for success in the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The nine-time African champions, Super Falcons, are ready to kick off their campaign against Tunisia on Sunday evening, aiming to deliver an outstanding performance in their opening group match.

“The girls are well-prepared and show a true eagerness for victory, with team spirit at an all-time high. We are looking forward to our first match on Sunday against Tunisia,” Madugu stated while reflecting on the friendly match with Ghana’s Black Queens in Casablanca.

Goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo, Asisat Oshoala, and captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who plays in Mexico, showcased the Falcons’ superiority over the Queens in a closed-door match at the Ziaida Palace Benslimane field.

“This match allowed us to bring the entire squad together to thoroughly assess our strengths as a team and to improve team cohesion, coordination, and various combinations.

“It will always be a continuous process, but we are very focused on our realistic and achievable goal of Mission X,” the Falcons coach stressed.

The victory against the Black Queens further solidified Madugu’s impressive track record with the Super Falcons. He was in charge when the Falcons easily progressed past Ethiopia in the qualifying rounds for the 2024 Olympics and also led the team to a significant win over Cape Verde to secure their place in the 13th Women AFCON, which is set to commence on Saturday.
