The Spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko has advised women to run away from and avoid abusive relationships in order to save their lives and avoid more gender violence in the state.

This comes after several reports of abuse women have faced, which were caused by their partners, especially in Port Harcourt. As seen in the earlier reported case of a woman who was stabbed by her fiancé. It was alleged that the fiancé, after stabbing her, made away with her phone, handbag, and wig.

Recently, there have been six reported cases of violence and abuse against women. Just for the month of June. It has caused a stir. Port Harcourt residents are asking if Port Harcourt men enjoy battering women, or if the victims are not tired of being abused and battered.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko urges women to avoid relationships that are not looking promising and could cost them their lives. In her words, “There are a thousand and one men”.

Hopefully, this does not become the norm in the city of Port Harcourt.
