A violent altercation at a bar in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, escalated into a fatal stabbing late Friday night, sparking outrage and calls for justice on social media.

According to a post by Portharcourt Specials (@phspecials) on X, a staff member at the 5G bar, located on New Road, Ada George, allegedly stabbed a customer to death following an argument. The incident, which occurred around 11:35 p.m. on June 27, 2025, was captured in a 37-second video that circulated widely online, showing a chaotic scene outside the bar with a car and several individuals involved.

The video, which has since been viewed thousands of times, includes a caption stating, “Just happened this night at 5G bar Riverstate… He k*illed someone just now,” accompanied by a shocked face emoji. The footage does not clearly depict the stabbing but shows a tense atmosphere with people gathered around, suggesting a lack of immediate security response.

Social media users expressed shock and concern over the incident. A Boy Has No Name (@D_kingsevidence) questioned whether the altercation was cult-related, a common concern in the region. BlvckBoi (@a_philberth) asked, “Like in front of everyone?” highlighting the public nature of the violence. Others, like führer girth (@trueestgirth), simply remarked, “Na wa Port Harcourt,” reflecting a sense of resignation to the city’s recurring issues with violence.

This incident is not isolated. Earlier in June, another violent altercation at a Port Harcourt nightclub involving a socialite known as Ceemore drew significant attention. Ihechi Maduba, also known as Ceemore, was arraigned for allegedly assaulting a group of women at the Black Box nightclub. The altercation, which gained traction after a viral video showed the victims with visible injuries, prompted the Rivers State Police Command to confirm the arrest and subsequent legal proceedings against Maduba.

The repeated occurrences of violence in Port Harcourt’s entertainment venues have raised questions about public safety and the effectiveness of local law enforcement. Despite improvements in mobile network coverage, social challenges persist, with residents and visitors alike expressing concerns about personal security.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the 5G bar incident, but the community awaits further details and action to address the underlying issues contributing to such violence.
