South South Democratic Movement to Hold Elected Officials Accountable

The National Chairman of a non-governmental organization, the South South Democratic Movement SSDM, Prince Favour Reuben says, in spite of threats by some politicians, the group will not relent in ensuring that elected officials are accountable to their constituents, especially in the South South region.

Speaking with our correspondent in Port Harcourt, Prince Reuben said some elected officials are already pledging their support for the group and asking for soft landing, while others who are not comfortable with the ideals of SSDM, are afraid that their inefficiencies and dirty deals would be exposed.

He said “politicians have been calling some of these people that are afraid of exposing them, begging us and threatening that we should not expose them, and we say SSDM aim is to expose every illegality they have been doing and deception they have been giving to the people of the South South”.

While expressing satisfaction with the response of people to ideals of the South South Democratic Movement, Prince Reuben said, beyond monitoring the activities of politicians, the group is also seeking collaboration with international organisations on the need to support its members in various areas of endeavour.

Prince Reuben, who emphasized that SSDM is not affiliated to any political party, explained that the group would ensure that only credible persons are given the mandate of the people in the 2027 general elections.
