President Bola Tinubu has handed over the chairmanship of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to President Julius Bio of Sierra Leone after a roller-coaster year.

A public affairs analyst Mr. Josiah Egbilika, who made this known to our correspondent said Tinubu’s tenure was marked by unresolved challenges particularly the Niger Coup.

Mr. Egblika while emphasizing on Africans strategic position in the global decision making bodies urged the new ECOWAS president to implement policies that will put the region on a progressive path.

He also expressed concerns about the bloc’s inability to achieve specific initiatives during Tinubu’s chairmanship, which undermined its purpose.

As ECOWAS navigates a period of heightened tension, the regional bloc’s ability to deliver lasting peace and integration hangs in the balance with all eyes on ECOWAS to see whether it can rise above its current challenges and fulfill its mandate.
