A disturbing video surfaced online on Saturday evening, showing the Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Goodluck Ihemnacho, being brutally beaten by a group of unidentified individuals.

The video, which has not been disputed, appears to show Ihemnacho being forced to sign documents believed to be resignation letters.

In the footage, Ihemnacho is seen sitting on the floor, visibly distressed, as he is repeatedly struck with canes. Voices off-camera can be heard yelling at him to “sign that thing” and “put your signature.” Two documents are visible on a chair in front of him, and he appears to be holding a pen.

The council secretary, Mr. Alabi Umegbewe, was also dragged into the room and assaulted. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but sources suggest it may be connected to the forthcoming local government elections.

What’s more, concerns have been raised about the absence of the two mobile police officers attached to the council administrator during the incident. A source claimed the officers were away “eating” at the time, sparking questions about possible complicity or dereliction of duty.

Ihemnacho had recently submitted his resignation letter to the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), citing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Ahoada East.

As of now, no official statement has been issued by the police or the Rivers State Government regarding the incident. The situation remains volatile, and many are calling for an investigation into the matter.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of public officials in the state. As the situation unfolds, many are eagerly awaiting an official response from the authorities.
