The National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Rivers State, has held a two-day sensitization rally for camp communities on the dangers of drug abuse. The rally was part of activities to mark the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency sensitization for 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members deployed to Rivers State orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai.
During the event, corps members were vehemently cautioned not to waste the beautiful and glorious future ahead of them by indulging in drug abuse. In his address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, stressed on the need to make positive impact in their host communities.

In his words to the corps members, Oleghe said, “Nigeria needs you to contribute your quota to nation building and development. “Don’t allow peer pressure to lure you into using drugs to deny yourselves that noble role.”

In his sensitization lecture, the Head of NDLEA on camp, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, Steven Nwogu, advised the corps members to, “avoid peer pressure that can lead you into drug abuse, the consequences are unpleasant and unpalatable. “I encourage you to seek medical advice before taking any drug as any drug not prescribed and used, amount to abuse.”
