Air Peace has taken a proactive step to minimise flight delays and disruptions by deploying three standby aircraft as operational buffers.This strategic move aims to ensure service continuity and maintain a high level of On-Time Performance (OTP).
Standby Aircraft Deployment: The airline has set aside three aircraft to serve as buffers, which are not part of the daily flight schedule but are deployed when needed.
Improved OTP: Air Peace recorded over 85% OTP in May, indicating a significant improvement in punctuality.
External Challenges: The airline’s chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, attributed most disruptions to external factors such as weather conditions, airport infrastructure challenges, bird strikes, and inadequate navigational aids.
Bird Strike Concerns: Onyema highlighted the serious threat posed by bird strikes, which can take aircraft out of service instantly. He noted that Air Peace has experienced over 30 bird strike incidents this year and 115 in the last five years.

Safety Protocols: Despite these challenges, Onyema emphasised that Air Peace maintains strict safety protocols and has a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe practices.
Operational Excellence: The airline operates more daily flights than all other domestic airlines in Nigeria combined and has a strong international track record, including uninterrupted London service.
Future Plans: Onyema announced plans to rebrand the airline’s customer service department to improve passenger experience and highlighted plans to resume flights to India, pending landing rights at key destinations.
By deploying standby aircraft and prioritizing safety and customer service, Air Peace aims to maintain its operational excellence and provide a better experience for its passengers.
