Liverpool Open Interest to Signing Super Eagles Striker

According to reports from Flashscore, it is claimed that Liverpool has entered the competition to acquire Nigerian international Victor Osimhen as they aim to enhance their attacking capabilities for the 2025/26 season.

Osimhen has just completed an outstanding loan period at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals in all competitions, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal strikers.

His goal count from last season has contributed to an already remarkable career total of 177 goals for both club and country.

The interest from the Reds arises amidst increasing uncertainty regarding the future of Uruguayan forward Darwin Núñez, who has been rumored to be considering moves to Napoli and various clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool is thought to be evaluating Osimhen as a potential marquee signing to spearhead their attack should Núñez leave.

Osimhen’s ascent to prominence has been characterised by determination and development.

Following a breakout display at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup—where he secured the Golden Boot—he faced challenges during his time at Wolfsburg.

He subsequently rejuvenated his career at Belgian club Sporting Charleroi, netting 20 goals in a single season, which led to his transfer to Lille in Ligue 1.

At Lille, he added 18 goals before making a lucrative transfer to Napoli, where he scored 76 goals and clinched the Serie A title in 2023.

His impressive form facilitated a high-profile loan to Galatasaray, and his performances in Turkey have once again attracted the attention of elite clubs, including Manchester United, Al Hilal, and Galatasaray itself, which is reportedly keen to secure him on a permanent basis.

On the international stage, Osimhen has netted 26 goals for Nigeria, positioning him to potentially surpass Rashidi Yekini’s long-held record as the nation’s all-time leading scorer.

As the summer transfer window intensifies, the Nigerian forward has become one of the most coveted strikers in global football, with his established goal-scoring ability making him a prime target for top clubs throughout Europe and beyond.
