Ezeh Chibuzor Nears Rivers United Return

Ezeh Chibuzor Nears Return to Rivers United as Club Bolsters Squad for NPFL and CAF Champions League

Ezeh Chibuzor is reportedly on the brink of rejoining Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United Football Club, as the Port Harcourt-based club intensifies preparations for the 2025/26 season. According to sources, the versatile player is in advanced negotiations with the Pride of Rivers, marking a potential homecoming after a stint abroad.

Chibuzor previously featured for Rivers United for two seasons, making 10 NPFL appearances during his initial tenure with the club. His experience and familiarity with the team are expected to bolster Rivers United’s squad as they gear up for a demanding campaign in both the NPFL and the CAF Champions League.

Rivers United, the 2022 NPFL champions, are actively strengthening their roster to compete on multiple fronts. Under the guidance of coach Finidi George, who led the team to a second-place finish last season with 64 points, the club is aiming to challenge for domestic honours and make an impact in continental competition. Alongside Remo Stars, Rivers United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, with the preliminary round draw expected soon.

The potential signing of Chibuzor aligns with the club’s strategy to blend experienced players with new additions to build a competitive squad. While no official confirmation has been made, the transfer is anticipated to be finalized in the coming days, adding depth and quality to Rivers United’s lineup ahead of the NPFL season, set to commence on August 22, 2025.

As the club continues its preparations at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, fans are eager to see how Chibuzor’s return could enhance the team’s prospects in what promises to be a challenging and exciting season.
