Rivers NYSC Camp to Undergo Renovation

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Rivers State permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, is set to undergo massive renovation of its infrastructure very soon. This is as the Sole Administrator of the State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas Ekwe (rtd.), today, June 19, 2025, dispatched a team to inspect and evaluate the quantum of work to be done.

The team, led by the Senior Special Adviser to the Administrator on Security, Rear Admiral MM Kadiri (rtd), took a tour round corps members’ hostels, kitchen, the old hall, and the camp market. He discovered that some of the areas were hit by massive flooding due to improper water channelization.

In a remark at the end of the inspection and evaluation exercise, Kadiri admitted that the camp facilities not only need renovation but also the building of new structures to accommodate the ever-growing corps population.

On his part, the State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe expressed delight with the good intentions of the State Government and optimism that the project will be executed in the shortest possible time. He noted that Rivers’ camp, despite the challenges of aging infrastructure, still remains one of the best, if not the best, camps in the country.
