An unidentified dead body was discovered this morning at approximately 8:00 AM on Azikiwe Road, directly across from Silver Bird Port Harcourt Cinemas, according to a local resident who witnessed the scene alongside other road users. The witness, who requested anonymity, provided no further details about the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the Rivers State Police Command, and local authorities have not confirmed the incident. Efforts to reach the Azikiwe Police Division for comment were unsuccessful by press time.

This unsettling discovery comes amid heightened concerns over public safety in Port Harcourt, following recent violent incidents in the area. Earlier this month, a taxi driver was fatally shot by suspected cultists in Mile 2 Diobu, near Azikiwe Road, on June 2, 2025. Additionally, a vigilante was killed in a cult-related attack on June 6, 2025. These incidents highlight ongoing security challenges in the area.

Historically, Azikiwe Road and its environs have seen similar tragedies, such as a man found dead in a brothel on Azikiwe Street in 2020 and another in an apartment in 2023.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The public is encouraged to contact the Rivers State Police Command with any information related to this incident.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
