D’banj Excludes Wizkid From His Top 3 Afrobeat Stars

Afrobeats icon D’banj has sparked lively discussions across social media after revealing his current top three favorite music artists—Rema, Davido, and Burna Boy—while notably leaving out global superstar Wizkid.

The revelation came during D’banj’s recent appearance on the Adesope Live podcast. The veteran singer took a moment to highlight what sets each artist apart: Rema for his electrifying energy, Davido for his humility and unwavering consistency, and Burna Boy for his deliberate artistry and captivating live performances.

“Shout out to Rema—I love his energy,” D’banj said. “Then there’s Davido. People should learn from the way he carries himself like he doesn’t have a penny, yet he’s so consistent. Burna Boy is too intentional; his live shows are amazing.”

Many fans applauded D’banj’s recognition of the artists’ individual strengths. However, the absence of Wizkid—a Grammy-winning artist with immense global influence—drew sharp criticism from some quarters, fueling debates online about the criteria for such accolades.

The discussion continues to trend as fans weigh in on D’banj’s picks and the perceived snub of one of Afrobeats’ biggest names.
