Liverpool Agrees Wirtz Deal

Liverpool Secure £127m Deal for Bayer Leverkusen Star Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s wonder 22-year-old midfielder Florian Wirtz for a record-breaking £127m, including add-ons, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The German international, who agreed terms in recent weeks, is set to undergo a medical at Anfield, with an official announcement pending. This move could make Wirtz the Premier League’s most expensive signing, surpassing Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice.

Wirtz, Liverpool’s top midfield target, shone last season with 16 goals and 15 assists for Leverkusen. His intelligent positioning and rapid decision-making saw him rank second only to Jeremy Doku for passes in the attacking third (32.4 per 90 minutes) among players in Europe’s top four leagues.

Under Arne Slot’s 4-2-3-1 system, Wirtz is expected to play as an attacking midfielder, thriving in tight spaces behind the striker.

The Reds have been active this transfer window, already securing Wirtz’s teammate Jeremie Frimpong and advancing talks for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. With a wealth of midfield options, Slot faces intriguing selection decisions to integrate Wirtz. Liverpool fans can look forward to the dynamic playmaker’s impact next season.
