Thomas Frank is set to assume leadership at Tottenham, stepping into the role previously held by the recently dismissed Ange Postecoglou.
Despite Postecoglou’s achievement in securing the Europa League title for Spurs – their first trophy in 17 years – he was let go on Friday due to the club’s unsatisfactory performance in the Premier League.
Tottenham’s lacklustre league performance, which saw them hovering near the relegation zone last season with an alarming 22 losses out of 38 matches, led chairman Daniel Levy to make the difficult choice.
The club recognised Postecoglou’s accomplishment in a statement: “Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to secure a European trophy. Alongside iconic figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.
However, the board has unanimously determined that a change is necessary for the club’s best interests.

“After a promising start to the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we accumulated 78 points from the last 66 PL matches. This resulted in our worst-ever PL finish last season”
“There were times when extenuating circumstances arose – injuries and a decision to prioritise our European campaign.”
“While winning the Europa League this season stands as one of the Club’s most significant achievements. We cannot allow our decision to be swayed by emotions tied to this success.
“It is essential that we are capable of competing on multiple fronts, and we believe that a change in strategy will provide us with the best opportunity for the upcoming season and beyond.”
Frank has quickly emerged as the leading candidate for the managerial position at Tottenham and is on the verge of taking charge in north London.
He has reached an agreement to join Spurs, leaving chairman Daniel Levy to finalise a compensation arrangement with Brentford.
Since taking over at Brentford in 2018, Frank has played a crucial role in their rise to the Premier League, securing promotion to the top tier in 2021.
As a result, his name has often been linked with other prominent managerial vacancies, including last year’s opening at Manchester United.
