Political Commentator Urges Citizens to Hold Elected Legislators Accountable

‎The citizens have been enjoined to hold their elected representatives responsible. For the absence of visible democratic dividends in their respective areas. Despite the huge amount of money allocated every year for constituency projects.

‎National Chairman of South South Democratic Movement SSDM, Prince Favour Reuben, gave the charge in Port Harcourt.

Saying that with the removal of fuel subsidy, huge sums of money are being made available to Senators and members of the House of Representatives. For the execution of constituency projects, but lamented that the projects are not being executed.

‎”The people should rise up and demand accountability. How can a Senator receive 2 billion Naira in a year for his constituency, and he is not doing anything? And a House of Rep Member is receiving 1 Billion Naira and is doing nothing with it?”

” It is not a time to come and buy a miserable wrapper to be sharing, it is a time to create industry. Every Senator has the capacity to build one industry in their senatorial district. So our focus should not be only on the President”

‎On calls for the lifting of the state of emergency declared in Rivers State, Prince Reuben justified the declaration. Saying people should not cry more than the bereaved.

As suspended Governor Siminialayi Fubara, who is directly affected, has not called for the lifting of the state of emergency.

‎”Even the suspended Governor thanked Mr. President for this emergency from his own mouth. That the man has saved Rivers State. If the suspended man can say thank the President, then he knows what would have happened in the state. So why are people agitating?”

‎” The Man that wears the shoe knows where it pinches him, and he has not said the President should lift it; he said we should thank him. So, since the suspended Governor has not made that suggestion, I don’t think we should do it.”

‎Prince Reuben said the South South Democratic Movement would ensure that elected representatives in the South South region are held accountable to the people.
