Tottenham Spurs Sack Manager, Ange Postecoglou

According to BBC Sport, Spurs have terminated the contract of manager Postecoglou, with the club’s performance in the Premier League clearly considered the pivotal factor in his future.

The Australian led the team to Europa League success, marking their first trophy in 17 years, yet their 17th-place finish has rendered his position untenable.

Spurs suffered 22 losses in their 38 league matches, concluding the season just four points above the relegation zone. Current reports indicate that Spurs are looking to target Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, as the successor to Postecoglou.

Postecoglou made history as the first Australian to manage in the Premier League and was also the inaugural Australian manager to lead a team to a European final. His victory in that final was historic as well. Spurs will commence the search for a new manager, with reports suggesting that Frank is the primary candidate.

The 59-year-old manager led Spurs to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League during his inaugural season and secured a spot in the Europa League. Tottenham faced an early exit from the Carabao Cup at Fulham and were eliminated in the fourth round of the FA Cup after a home defeat to Manchester City.

Nevertheless, speculation regarding a potential exit from Tottenham persisted despite their Europa League victor. Due to their poor league performance that resulted in a 17th-place finish. Ultimately, this has led to Postecoglou’s departure from the club, and now Levy must seek his replacement in the coming weeks.

Postecoglou had made it known that he typically secures a trophy in his second season at a club, and he fulfilled that promise as his Tottenham team triumphed over Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final, thanks to a goal from Brennan Johnson.

Upon their return from Bilbao, Postecoglou and his squad were welcomed by over 200,000 fans in N17 during their victory parade.
