Rivers Commissioner of Police Calls for Peaceful Eid Celebration

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, extends warm greetings to the Muslim faithful in Rivers State as they join Muslims worldwide to celebrate this year’s Eid al-Kabir.

In a goodwill message released on Friday, CP Adepoju urged Muslims to use the period to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Rivers State. Also, to reflect on the values of sacrifice, compassion, and faith associated with the holy festival.

The Police Commissioner also reassured residents across the state of the provision of adequate security throughout the Eid celebration and beyond. He said the Command has put in place robust operational strategies to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration.

“I have directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units to deploy all operational and intelligence assets to effectively cover all 23 Local Government Areas.

“As part of the security measures, conventional and tactical police teams will be strategically deployed to Eid prayer grounds, motor parks, markets, recreation centres, highways, and other critical infrastructure.”

The deployment, according to the Police, is aimed at maintaining law and order. Deterring criminal activity and ensuring the safety of lives and property during and after the celebration.

The Command further called on members of the public to remain law-abiding, supportive, and vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity or acts of criminality to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines:

“Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration in Rivers State,” CP Adepoju appealed. The Rivers State Police Command also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the safety and security of all residents during the festive period.
