The Nigeria Premier Football League Club Owners’ Forum, in an expanded meeting held in Abuja, approved significant amendments to the NPFL Framework and Rules, including enhanced life and injury insurance schemes for players and officials. They agreed that Players’ life insurance scheme should be upheld and introduced.

According to the communiqué released on Thursday by forum secretary Amobi Ezeaku, this move ensures the welfare and career security of league participants. The meeting, attended by club chairmen and NPFL leadership, praised the 2024/2025 season as one of the most organized in recent history, citing improved matchday organization, near-perfect fixture adherence, and enhanced operational efficiency.

Remo Stars were commended for winning the 2024/2025 NPFL title, while Rivers United and Abia Warriors were congratulated for securing CAF interclub competition slots, with a call for clubs to prepare thoroughly for continental success.

To address economic challenges, the forum encouraged clubs to diversify revenue through sponsorships, merchandising, and media rights optimization. The forum emphasized that State Football Associations must be responsible for ensuring safety at match venues. The proposed 2025/2026 season calendar was acknowledged, with a call for stakeholders to align operations for a seamless rollout.
