Wike Unveils Abuja Projects as Tinubu Marks Two Years in Office

To commemorate his second year in office, President Bola Tinubu will personally inaugurate 10 of the 17 infrastructure projects scheduled for commissioning in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This was disclosed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during an inspection of ongoing projects in Abuja on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

The series of inaugurations, set to commence on June 10 with the unveiling of the newly rehabilitated Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC), will extend through the end of June, showcasing the administration’s commitment to transformative development.

According to Wike, President Tinubu will take the lead in commissioning 10 of these projects, emphasizing their significance to the nation’s capital and its residents.

Vice President Kashim Shettima will represent the president in inaugurating three projects, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives will each commission two projects on Tinubu’s behalf.

This distribution of responsibilities underscores the collaborative effort of Nigeria’s leadership to highlight the administration’s achievements.

A key focus of the inauguration plan is the inclusion of projects in satellite towns, ensuring that development reaches beyond Abuja’s urban core.

Wike noted that President Tinubu has committed to personally commissioning two projects in these satellite towns, with the Vice President and Senate President also participating in similar activities

. “This approach ensures that leaders engage directly with communities in these areas, allowing residents to witness the tangible benefits of these initiatives for the first time,” Wike stated.

This strategic outreach aims to strengthen public trust and demonstrate the government’s dedication to equitable development across the FCT.

In a Facebook post following his inspection, Wike shared a heartfelt moment from his visit to a bridge connecting Maitama with Gishiri and a section of the Gishiri road.

He described being warmly greeted by primary school pupils from their school premises, prompting him to join them briefly.

“I am delighted to see the joy among Abuja’s residents, including our children,” Wike wrote. “It’s clear that the people are feeling the impact of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is driving meaningful progress in our communities.”

The projects, ranging from critical infrastructure such as roads and bridges to public facilities like the AICC, reflect the administration’s broader vision of enhancing connectivity, accessibility, and quality of life in the FCT.

Wike’s remarks suggest that these initiatives are designed not only to improve physical infrastructure but also to foster a sense of inclusion and optimism among residents.

As the inauguration dates approach, the events are expected to draw significant attention, offering an opportunity to showcase the Renewed Hope Agenda’s impact on both urban and satellite communities in the Federal Capital Territory.
