‘I Don’t Do Childish Insults’ Amaechi Blasts Wike

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed the idea of exchanging heated words with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling it as immature.

Amaechi’s statement comes in response to Wike’s recent jibe, wherein he claimed that Amaechi falsely expressed feelings of hunger during his 60th birthday speech, suggesting instead that Amaechi is hungry for power.

In a harsh critique, Wike challenged Amaechi’s credibility, asserting, “We don’t have time for trivial matters in Nigeria. Amaechi decided to lie about being hungry on his 60th birthday.

He served as Speaker from 1999 to 2007, Governor from 2007 to 2015, and Minister from 2015 to 2023, yet he never spoke of hunger during those years. Now he and others are regrouping, merely seeking power.

This reflects his failure. He downplays hunger, joined Atiku, and claimed there was hardship, despite his inability to secure 25% of votes for Buhari as campaign director.”

During an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Amaechi opted not to lower himself to Wike’s level, highlighting their previous professional relationship. “I was once his superior, whether he accepts it or not. I appointed him as my chief of staff. I could have declined.

My governorship was granted by God, Peter Odili, the judiciary, and the people of Rivers State. I refuse to participate in childish quarrels,” Amaechi stated, emphasizing his unwillingness to escalate the feud.
