The dispute over the ownership of former Nigeria U17 captain Simon Karshe Cletus between Obaje FC from Kaduna and Mavlon FC is still ongoing. Recent reports from owngoalnigeria suggest that Cletus, who was part of the Nigeria U20 team that qualified for the U20 World Cup by finishing third at the AFCON, has always been associated with Mavlon FC since his U17 days.
However, about a month ago, a twist occurred when FC Obaje, owned by Gabriel Obaje, the elder brother of well-known Nigerian footballers Godwin and Joshua Obaje, took Mavlon to the NFF, claiming ownership of the 17-year-old. After reviewing documents from all parties, the NFF ruled in favor of the Kaduna Academy and sent a congratulatory message to our editorial team. Just three days ago, the situation changed dramatically.

While training his players, Obaje was arrested by police in Kaduna, who cited a court order as the reason for his arrest, related to a forgery case he must answer in Abuja. We visited the young club owner at the police station, where he shared his experience, stating he had been detained for three days at the Sabo Division in Kaduna South, awaiting transfer to Abuja for his case.
He mentioned that he has already reached out to the NFF, which will send a representative to support him upon his arrival in Abuja, as well as the Kaduna State FA Chairman, who has pledged to assist him in seeking justice.
