Troops of the Nigerian Army have been charged to uphold and protect the constitution of the Country and act in accordance with extant Military regulations in the discharge of their duties.
The charge was given at a sensitization workshop on Human Rights and Professional conduct of Troops organized by the Department of Civil Military Affairs, Army Headquarters held at 6 Division Army Barracks Port Harcourt Rivers State.
Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Major General Gold Chibuisi emphasized that the workshop was aimed to equip Troops with the knowledge and importance of the laws regulating the conduct of Military operations and fundamental Human Rights of the citizens.

Major General Chibuisi commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for his support and approval to conduct the program at Army Divisions, Brigade and Training Institutions.

Earlier in the welcome address, the General Officer Commanding, GOC 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric-Emekah stressed the need for a regular refresher training for troops of the Nigerian Army for them to understand the rights of neutral citizens and professional conduct of the Military.
Delivering a lecture on the awareness of drug abuse, a guest speaker, Mr. Osita Iheme noted that drug abuse could disarm a soldier’s greatest weapon which is “his mind” while urging them to stay substance free.
Mr. Iheme opined that periodic sensitization program on drug abuse awareness would go a long way to address the scourge among soldiers.
