Shun Cultism, Rivers CP Urges Teenagers On 2025 Children’s Day

At the 2025 commemoration of the annual Children’s Day celebration, held on May 27, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, issued a stern warning to teenagers against cultism.

Adepoju issued this warning while delivering an address at the Sharks Football Stadium in Port Harcourt, where he presented a lecture on the theme “The Disadvantages of Cultism.”

The CP, who was represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, spoke on the risks and consequences of Cultism and urged the children to make informed choices.

The state police spokesperson was accompanied by the state Chairman of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, Mr. Eke Onwuka, the Command Desk Officer of POCACOV, ASP Ogbuewe Captain, as well as representatives of traditional rulers.

Wife of the Sole Administrator, Dr. Theresa Ibas, was ably represented by Dr. Ruhuoma Chinedu Kejeh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Development.

Highlights of the celebration included colorful cultural displays and the presentation of trophies to winning schools in various competitions.

The theme of this year’s event, “Our children: Our future and Our Responsibility underscores the importance of investing in the future of the nation—our children.
