PCRC Celebrates Children’s Day with AI Awareness, Career Guidance

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Rivers State, on Monday, May 26, 2025, marked this year’s Children’s Day with a special event at the Police Comprehensive College, Port Harcourt.

The celebration brought together students from the host institution and 19 other schools across the state, including both government and private schools.

The event also featured career talks from professionals, including a pilot from Bristol Helicopters, Nollywood practitioner Kate Ezeigbo, and representatives of various sectors.

In his address, the Chairman of PCRC Rivers State, Voke Emore, emphasized the significance of nurturing the younger generation and equipping them for the future.

“Today, we are celebrating the children in a special way. Apart from students of Police Comprehensive College, we have pupils from over twenty schools participating,” he said.

He noted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly shaping the future and urged the children to position themselves early.

“AI is the next big thing in the world. We want Nigerian children to become pioneers in this field. They need to understand the basics and build on them.

“We had a pilot who shared insight on aviation as a career, and Kate Ezeigbo, convener of the Rivers State International Film Festival, who spoke to the children through a motivational drama.”

“Education is the key to success. Say no to crime, illicit drugs, and cultism.”

Security advocate, Ambassador Bosinde Araikpe, reminded the students of their unique privilege.

“As a student of the Police College, you are already being exposed to a disciplined environment. Represent the Nigeria Police well.”
