“Four Billion Naira Contract Ruined My Marriage,” Nollywood Actress Reveals

Veteran Nigerian Hausa (Kannywood) actress Mansura Isa has revealed the sudden and dramatic end of her second marriage, comparing the experience to something out of a movie. Speaking on the BBC Hausa programme Mahangar Zamani alongside fellow actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura shared that she entered the union believing it was based on genuine love, only to later discover her husband had hidden intentions.

“I married for love. You know what they say, love is blind. But it turns out he had a different agenda, not real love,” she confessed.

During the interview, Fati Mohammad addressed the common criticism faced by Kannywood actresses regarding failed marriages. She argued that marital breakdowns are not exclusive to celebrities but become more publicized when they involve well-known figures. According to her, many men marry actresses for superficial reasons and abandon the relationship once their desires are fulfilled. “People assume women refuse to stay in marriage because they’re used to luxury, but it’s not that simple,” Fati stated.

Mansura’s second marriage first made headlines in June 2024 when she tied the knot shortly after her separation from her first husband, actor Sani Danja. The couple, who share four children—Iman, Khalifa, Sultan, and Sudais—were once considered a model pair in the industry. Her second wedding garnered significant attention, particularly due to the reported bride price of one million naira. However, Mansura has now confirmed that the marriage has ended.

She recounted meeting her second husband through an uncle after securing a contract in Lagos. Since she had no representative in the city, she reached out to him to oversee the deal. However, she later realized his true motive was to take control of the project, using their romantic relationship as a guise.

“He suddenly proposed marriage, and I accepted, thinking he was genuine. He even said I could continue with my film career. We got married at night, and the next morning he left for Lagos,” she revealed.

Mansura disclosed that her husband presented her with a contract agreement during the wedding, pressuring her to sign over control of a N4 billion project under the pretext of their marital bond. From that moment, he took full charge of the dealings, cutting off all communication with her.

“I never saw him again after that. He stopped answering my calls and eventually divorced me,” she said.

When confronted by others in Lagos, he allegedly claimed to have forgotten about the marriage. Initially refusing to grant a divorce, he later relented under pressure.
